I am writing to tell you some very good news about the progress of our strategic initiatives.
You probably have heard about the Makens Family Matching Campaign, either through a brochure in the mail, a conversation with a fellow student or at one of the courses or community events you’ve participated in this year.
Our goal is to raise $1,200,000 worldwide to underpin our strategic projects. Bill and Diana Makens, two long-term More to Life students, got us started in a big way by pledging matching funds of $350,000. And to date, many of you have generously contributed, fueling much of what’s being created within our organization.
I am really proud to tell you that, to date, we have raised $834,000 in pledges and related matching funds worldwide - 70% of our goal!
Thank you so very much for your support and generosity!
I’m also pleased to say that we’re making excellent progress in the delivery of our strategic projects, which were presented to communities at 17 Out-of-the-Box events in 15 locations earlier this year.
Following those events, we took your feedback on board and revised our new internal marketing products. These materials were used in London's most recent More To Life, where they were met with great excitement and appreciation, especially from the team and community leaders. The new materials include a journal, processing notes, introductory cards and much more for passing on MTL, all with an updated and consistent look. We are piloting these marketing materials in seven locations over the next 3-6 months and soliciting feedback regarding their impact.
In conjunction with the internal marketing project, we are also in the midst of a very exciting external marketing / brand architecture project. We’ve employed a talented brand marketing firm, Make Believe, and the team, led by Darren Rudkin, has met numerous times since June. A presentation including a possible brand story and recommended ways of marketing our organization externally was given to the Kairos Board last weekend. More to come about all this at the National Leadership Conferences to be held December 2007 through February 2008. (See the MTL calendar at www.moretolife.org for your country's specific date.)
Also, we ran our very first Coaching Essentials weekend in Johannesburg in August. Trained by Ann McMaster and Bro Walton, it was fully enrolled and is currently generating much excitement among the South African community. Coaching Essentials is taking place in Houston this weekend and is planned for the UK and New Zealand in 2008.
In another development, we will be launching a third mentor course in 2008, the theme of which is currently being finalized, ready to be announced at the National Leadership Conferences.
So, we are well on our way! We are living out our intentions to pass on this life-giving work to thousands more people on four continents, to ensure the growth and sustainability of the Kairos Foundation and to position ourselves in the competitive marketplace with a sense of purpose and integrity.
Stay tuned!

Coaching - It's Coming to the U.S.
Here's the latest from Ann McMaster, project leader of the coaching initiative.
More to come! Peggy
The Kairos Foundation has been looking for ways to introduce coaching into the MTL program for almost 10 years. Now, the synergy of demand, support, time and money (thanks to the Makens campaign!) has come together. It’s time.
We’re piloting the first Coaching Essentials course in the US and it looks like it will be full. Coaching Essentials has already piloted in South Africa and is a blazing success, both for the coaches and for their coachees!
Coaching is not just about being there for others; it's about the 'space' the coach brings to the coaching relationship (which, of course, is about the ‘space’ brought to all aspects of the coach’s life). It's about organizing and honing your ability to support change in others' lives. It's a way of fast tracking your life - being present to yourself, fully, without reservations, and being present to others, fully, without reservations. All this while creating an income stream for yourself.
For the person being coached, it’s about being on the other end of that very special kind of attention, plus having the benefit of an ‘expert’ who wants you to have what you want in your life – and, in the process, saving you lots of wasted effort and creating more straight-forward results in less time. A true win/win for everyone.
The Coaching Essentials course covers a 4-month period. The first half of the course focuses on connecting and contracting. The second half of the course focuses on conducting and completing. The first weekend is scheduled for October 26-28, followed by 2 months of practice. The second weekend is scheduled for January 4-6, followed by 2 more months of practice. During that time, the coaches will work with MTL students who are willing to be coached. This practice round of coaching will be provided at no charge. In exchange, the coachees will provide confidential feedback on their experience.
Following the completion of the second weekend, we’ll be announcing our new crop of US coaches – look for it!
Leading this coaching initiative worldwide has been one of my greatest pleasures. May we all enjoy this new program and the benefits it brings.

Video from Brad's Remembrance Gathering
Several students inquired prior to the services for Brad in California if we could videotape some of the sharing that was to take place. Thanks to Fernando Escamilla, Allen Glesser, David Templer, Maggie Spooner, Maggie Longmire and David Crisp, the homily given by Roy was audio-taped (see post of September 13), and videotapes were made of some of the shares at the Remembrance Gathering.
To see the tributes given by myself, Ann McMaster, Sue Oldham and Brian Brown, Brad’s grandson, please scroll down.
I hope you find these as stirring and connecting as did those of us who were there.

A Share
Today I told the truth and, yes, it set me free.
You’ve heard that many times, I imagine, in the training room and elsewhere. I bet you’ve experienced it for yourself many more times than that! And today I experienced it yet again.
First of all, I want to apologize for being ‘quiet’ on this blog for two weeks +. Since Brad’s death, I’ve been quite reflective and at times, simply withdrawn. It’s been a lot to absorb / process / deal with. The services in California were particularly comforting and opening for me. I believe they were for many others as well. Perhaps you’ve been in your own process around this organizational lifeshock. What have you noticed? Have you been feeling your feelings? Is it helpful to hear another human being say, “This is big for me!” ?
Now, to flesh out the rest of the picture of why I’ve not posted, I’ve had some difficult lifeshocks around other topics recently. I’ve been using the processes of this program and getting loving and skilled support. It’s been an ‘up and down’ time for me personally.
Today, however, after an extended clearing process and a very connecting conversation, it seems that I am back inside myself in a new and full way. I feel different in my body – calm and yet excited. Open and ready. The picture I have is one of putting on a new set of clothes that are somewhat too large but you know you’re growing into them. I’m growing into this new ‘octave’ of personal authority and learning.
When I thought about starting this blog post, I found I was so excited about communicating all of this with and to you! My genuine want is to communicate with you in community. For how can we have one without the other?
Perhaps there is some resonance for you in what I share. If so, and if there’s something you’re willing to share with us all, please post a comment.
That’s it for me today.
Soon there will be more about what’s going on in our organization. An upcoming Board meeting. Exciting results within the new coaching program. The latest on the Makens campaign. Our challenges. Our wins. Our community.
With gratitude,
Peggy
