A couple of years ago, I re-took Way of a Warrior II. I had attended the very first one..18?...years ago. (Where is Sue Oldham when you need her? Sue has all this sort of info stored in her brain.)
Anyway, it was a totally amazing experience, and in fact, it was the very thing I needed in order to say a resounding Yes! to the role of CEO that was offered me just a few weeks following.
I remember standing at the bottom of the ropes course, encouraging the warriors who were making their way above us. We Americans were shouting phrases such as, "You go!" and "We're right with you!" and "You got it going!"
Louise Smith, my dear friend and London Centre manager, was standing next to me and at one point, she laughed and said, "You Americans have so many different sayings for encouragement! We Brits simply, and rather formally, say over and over, "Well done!"
We got a good laugh out of it.
This year's Warrior trainings have completed and I've heard many stories of awe and transformation from those with whom I've spoken. Seventy-one warriors at WOW I and forty-five at WOW II, led expertly and lovingly by senior trainers Sue Oldham, Richard Perry, Briggy Kiddle and Pascale Ascher. Clare Vivian-Neal joined them for her first year as a senior trainer at WOW I, working with the team extensively. Dreena Tischler, as international coordinator for WOW, played a huge part in the creation of this experience. And the teams for both courses added their service and dedication while receiving their own learnings!
Deep work was done. Bonds were forged. Laughter and tears and generosity of spirit poured out.
And speaking of generosity, I was astonished to hear that our warriors, team and trainers gave approximately $80,000 in contributions and related matching funds toward the Makens Family Matching Campaign.
To all of you, for all that was created, I say:
You go!
We're right with you!
You got it going!
and most of all -
Well done.
